What are non-deposit containers?

"Non-deposit" containers are empty beverage containers that did not have a deposit paid on them at the time of sale, making them ineligible for a refund. Containers that are damaged to the point of being unidentifiable are also considered non-deposit containers. Examples of non-deposit containers include US or out-of-province containers, containers without labels or barcodes, or crushed or broken containers and any containers that are not registered with Return-It.

While non-deposit containers should not be included in your Express bag, they will be added to your bag count. If you want to see the exact quantity of containers that were not eligible for a deposit refund, please click on the bag in question in the "History" tab of your Express account.
